Personal Development

At Gospel Oak School, we are deeply committed to fostering personal development in each and every student. We believe that education goes beyond academic achievements and encompasses the growth of the whole individual.

Through our comprehensive and holistic approach, we provide a nurturing and supportive environment that promotes self-discovery, self-awareness, and self-improvement. Our dedicated team of educators and staff are passionate about helping students develop their unique strengths, talents, and interests.

We offer a wide range of opportunities for personal growth, including extracurricular activities, leadership development programs, and community service initiatives. These experiences allow our students to explore their passions, build resilience, and develop essential life skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication.

At Gospel Oak School, we understand that personal development is a lifelong journey. We strive to instil in our students a love for learning, a growth mindset, and a sense of purpose. By nurturing their personal growth, we empower our students to become confident, well-rounded individuals who are prepared to navigate the challenges and seize the opportunities that lie ahead.

Each year group covers a range of engaging units which develop the wider KASE skills (more information about which can be found here) and are also tailored to our cohorts.

Our PSHE curriculum includes the statutory frameworks of Religious Education (RE), Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE), Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE), Citizenship and Careers Education Information and Guidance (CEIAG). It is delivered in both a fortnightly timetabled lesson, assemblies and ‘Drop down Enrichment Days’. This programme is aimed to help our young students to develop as a whole.

Student leadership at Gospel Oak School

Here at Gospel Oak School, we believe that every student has the potential to be a leader. We are committed to fostering a culture of student leadership, empowering our students to become confident, responsible, and compassionate leaders of tomorrow.

Through our comprehensive leadership development programs, we provide students with the skills, opportunities, and support they need to grow as leaders. Our programs focus on cultivating essential leadership qualities such as effective communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving.

We believe that leadership is not limited to formal positions of authority, but rather a mindset and a set of skills that can be applied in any situation. Whether it's leading a team, organising an event, or advocating for a cause, our students are encouraged to embrace leadership opportunities both within and outside the classroom.

Through various leadership roles in clubs, sports teams, and community service initiatives, our students learn to lead with integrity, empathy, and a commitment to social responsibility. They gain valuable experiences in teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities they will encounter in their future endeavours. They are also dedicated to raising money for our chosen charity, Birmingham Childrens Hospital.

At Gospel Oak School we believe that student leadership is not just about the present, but also about preparing our students to become responsible global citizens and leaders who will shape a better future. We are proud of the leadership skills and qualities our students develop during their time with us, and we are confident that they will make a positive impact on the world around them.

Join us at Gospel Oak School and discover the leader within you. Together, let's inspire and empower the leaders of tomorrow by being one of our student leader roles:

  • Post 16 Senior ambassadors
  • Head Boy/Head Girl
  • Deputy Head Boy/Deputy Head Girl
  • Senior Prefect
  • Prefects
